It’s way over due
Time to get rid of the old, make room for the new
Boxes of disappointment, shoes & hats that no longer fit
Dust covered self-help books & knick knacks of resentment
Bags of unforgiveness, fears forged into rusty gates
Roots of bitterness & broken mirrors of self-hate
A pedestal for judging others, just a sampling of what you can find
I want them out of my house and out of my mind
Only one person came to my yard sale that day
I told him, “I can lower any price, as long as you haul it away.”
He smiled & laughed as I recall...
Then He called me by name and declared, “I’ll take it all.”
He handed me a blank check and told me to fill in the amount
With the greatest number in earth & in heaven above
He said, “That’s how much you’re worth, that’s how much you’re loved.”
My eyes filled with tears and I hugged Him so tight
All this time later, I still carry that check
Wondering what amount to write
Ephesians 3:16-19 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
